【 AREA 】Asahidake Camp Site, Taisetsu-Zan National Park, Hokkaido, Japan
【 WEATHER 】Fine
【TEMPERATURE】Approx 20℃
Hi.
I went to Asahidake Campsite today. This is fascinating site.
Less people, quiet and clean facilities like wooden house toilet opens 24 hours a day 7.
There is a small fire place in the middle you can have a small fire to cook or watch.
And as my nature tour, you are able to walk from this camp site to Wasabi numa (Wasabi=Horse reddish, numa=pond). This short track needs approx 3 hours walk at average time in summer season, this area is not well maintenance because of the budget matter and the track is one of the best cross country ski course of whole nation in winter. As you know that grass glows a lot in summer in Asia, especially Hokkaido.
You must think about mesquites too. Do not forget to bring anti-mesquites spray with you, or you could buy an organic anti-insects spray at ropeway station nearby this campsite. No matter you are experienced in outdoors or not, a map and Campas are essential to use here for safety&relax walking in a fog especially.

To the last, you should make noise before you go over the hill or bush where you enable to see the front. That is the basic skill for avoiding brown bears to meet too close distance at the backcountry in Hokkaido.
Then, you have a nice walking in Kamui mintara( Gods play in the garden in Ainu language.)
